It takes a village…

This report opens with words we hear often: “There is something about Westridge...”  It’s true, but it is not one thing. Rather, it is our combination of people, philosophy, curriculum, and culture that makes Westridge a singular educational experience.

There is one thing, however, upon which this cumulative something rests―a community of shared values, vision, and a commitment to helping all our girls find their path to a life filled with joy, purpose, and fulfillment.

We thank you for your generous support during the 2017-2018 school year. Because tuition alone does not cover the full cost of educating our students, it was your Annual Fund support that allowed Westridge to invest fully in our curriculum, our facilities, and in the best professionals to teach, support, and inspire your daughters.

The quotes shared throughout this report from our families about why they chose to support Westridge are humbling and inspiring.  We thank you for your kinship in this labor of love as we teach, nurture, and inspire the next generation of Westridge women.

From L-R: WPA President Halle Yuhan, Head of School Elizabeth J. McGregor, WPA President-Elect Linda Peacore

Each year, the Westridge Parent Association (WPA) works to build relationships across our community while providing priceless hours of volunteer power and fundraising for the school. The organization’s executive board works year-round to provide all parents with a space to be involved in their daughter’s school life through groups such as the Multicultural Parent Collaborative, Dads’ Club, Theatre Boosters, and Music Boosters. The WPA also hosts beloved school events such as the annual Yam Festival, last year’s inaugural Night Market, back-to-school parties, parent-daughter events, and the Summer Opportunities Fair (SOF), which is the WPA’s largest fundraising event of the year.

In addition to funding WPA community events, money raised from SOF and Tiger Tail Boutique (the WPA-run school spirit store) allows us to bring guest speakers to campus like psychologist and author Lisa Damour, Ph.D. (Untangled: Guiding Teenage Girls Through the Seven Transitions into Adulthood), and supports the Annual Fund, Interim Week, the Genna Rae McNeil Endowed Scholarship Fund for minority students, and Partnership for Success!, a summer program that provides academic enrichment to students from public Pasadena elementary schools who are chosen based on academic promise and financial need. Thank you to all of our parent volunteers and especially to Halle Yuhan, 2017-2018 WPA president, and her executive board of volunteers.
